He's Here, And He's Home!

Our lil' rainbow dragonfly is here!

Everett Oberon Fiorani Thoma was born on January 7, 2016 at 10:21am.  He weighed in at 7 lbs even and measured 19.5 inches long.  He came out screaming (and peeing), and we loved being able to snuggle our little bug right away.

Right after being born!  Screaming away and peeing on the doctors.

Hanging out in Mother/Baby.

Elizabeth and Everett were transferred to the Mother/Baby department, but on Friday, January 8, Everett was admitted to the NICU due to some symptoms and test results found by the pediatricians.  This development was overwhelming, scary, familiar, and many other complicated things.  We tried our best to focus on what was going on with Everett, and we plan to share more about what exactly happened (both clinically with Everett, and emotionally with us) in the coming days and weeks.

In the Parent Room, practicing for being at home.

The VERY GOOD NEWS is that Everett was discharged today, January 11!  We are so thrilled to have him home.  While he is getting some at-home phototherapy for jaundice, we are hoping that is cleared up by his follow-up visits later this week.  All his other symptoms and test results were resolved enough that the doctors were comfortable discharging him from the NICU.

Discharged and headed home!

We are very much looking forward to taking care of our Everett here at home, telling him all about his awesome big brother, and introducing him to more friends and family.

Keep following the blog for more about Everett, more about Oberon, and more about our parenting journey - both practical and emotional.

We're home!  Everett's home!  (Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa F. for his sign)

JJ and Pepper are still deciding about this lil' beastie.
